In the face of unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic, COPI rose to the occasion by launching a transformative project in Kisaasi, a vibrant suburb of Kampala, Uganda. Our goal was clear: empower and uplift through skill development.
About the Project:
- Targeted Outreach: We zeroed in on a group of 50 individuals, ensuring personalized training and resources for each participant.
- Skills for the Future: Our participants delved into practical skills training, mastering the arts of shoemaking, liquid soap production, and the tie and dye technique.
- Beyond Economic Independence: While equipping individuals with income-generating skills was a priority, we also envisioned a society where gender disparities were a thing of the past. Our project became a stepping stone towards gender equality and holistic development.
- Timely Intervention: Initiated in October 2019, this project stands testament to COPI’s proactive approach and commitment to meaningful change.
Why It Matters: The COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t just a health crisis; it reshaped economies, job markets, and daily lives. Through our Kisaasi project, we aimed to offer constructive outlets for free time, develop resilience in our community, and pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future.Interested in learning more or getting involved?Contact us today.
