Te-Oteng Water Project Commissioned to Improve Access to Clean Water and Sanitation

Date: 21 December 2025
Location: Te-Oteng Community School

COPI proudly participated in the successful commissioning of the Te-Oteng Water Project on 21st December 2025, an important milestone aimed at improving access to clean water and sanitation for the school and the surrounding community.

The event brought together representatives from COPI, ATLAS COPO (project funders), school leadership, local government and community leaders, religious representatives, students, and members of neighbouring communities. The commissioning ceremony celebrated the power of partnership, community ownership, and sustainable development.

Community Celebration and Student Participation

The day began with a joyful student procession, as learners marched through nearby community centres surrounding the school. This symbolic march highlighted the project’s wider impact and reinforced the message that access to clean water and sanitation is a shared community responsibility.

The ceremony included prayers and blessings led by the parish priest, who offered words of gratitude and invoked guidance for the long-term sustainability and protection of the project.

Leadership Reflections and Partner Commitment

The commissioning featured speeches from key stakeholders, including the school headmaster, representatives from COPI, ATLAS COPO, local community leaders, and the school director.

Speaking during the event, a COPI representative MS. Juliana emphasized the organization’s commitment to community-driven development:

“This project is a reflection of what can be achieved when communities, partners, and institutions work together. Access to clean water and proper sanitation is fundamental to health, dignity, and education.”

Representatives from ATLAS COPO reaffirmed their support for initiatives that deliver lasting impact, while local leaders encouraged the community to take ownership and protect the facilities for future generations.

The school leadership expressed deep appreciation for the project, noting its positive influence on learning conditions and student wellbeing.

Improving Water Access and Sanitation Infrastructure

The Te-Oteng Water Project has successfully delivered:

  • A clean underground water source, accessible to both the school and neighbouring community members
  • New sanitary toilet facilities for the school, significantly improving hygiene and health standards

These facilities are expected to reduce water scarcity challenges, enhance sanitation practices, and create a healthier, more supportive learning environment—especially for children.

Strengthening Community Wellbeing and Sustainability

The commissioning of the Te-Oteng Water Project represents a meaningful step toward sustainable community development. By addressing essential needs such as water and sanitation, the project contributes to improved health outcomes, increased school attendance, and greater community resilience.

COPI remains committed to working alongside communities, partners, and institutions to deliver inclusive solutions that respond to real needs and promote long-term impact.

Looking Ahead

As the Te-Oteng community begins to benefit from this project, COPI looks forward to strengthening partnerships and supporting initiatives that empower communities, improve livelihoods, and enhance quality of life.
